Living the Good Life…

Adventures of the garden patch

September Harvest

Only a small harvest, I pulled out the rest of the Maris Piper potatoes, and rescued what i could from the carrot and onion patch that has been ravaged by caterpillars so unfortunately the ones left are a bit small as you can see!

Potatoes (1st crop)

My first crop of potatoes has grown massively with the warm weather i am just hoping that the roots have grown as well as the foliage. I noticed today that the plant is starting to form buds so I don’t think it will be long untill it is flowering. In hinds sight the plants seem to close together in these grow bags. I only planted three but I hope there is enough space below for many potatoes to grow on each plant. Maybe next time i will try just one per bag!!!

I planted my potatoes a couple of weeks ago and since then they are shooting up in just two weeks they are already at the top of the bag…! These are my ? potatoes, of which i still have some left. Today I also planted some King Edwards Which then will hopefully be ready to harvest in July (3-4 weeks after these).
