Adventures of the garden patch

Raspberry

My Raspberry plant has been the same, it has also had the chance to grow back. Late Feb early march it started to grow new shoots but they were eaten by the remaining caterpillars, however since spraying I haven’t seen any yet and in the last week with the increase of sunshine it has really started to bush out…

Apple Tree

When I got my new fruit trees, they had little to no leaves and only 1-2 buds which were yellow and frail due to lack of sunlight, I got them from B&M bargains of all places £2 each! but subsequently they were encased in cardboard and this is why there foliage was dying back, however i could see the new shoots still forming and trees looked well established even though they were cut back. Since potting them up, I have regularly watered and fed them and now it’s nice to see some health green leaves forming and new green shoots…

Raspberries

Raspberries are one of my favourite fruits, so I was so pleased when I noticed that some of the blossom on my raspberry plant was starting to now produce fruit! I was a little worried about my raspberry plant last week, when the weather was really hot because it kept wilting in the mid day sun, and i was thought that the flowers looked like they were dying off, not to produce fruit but all together so I made sure that I watered it everyday when i came home while it was like this, and luckily now the plant is starting to fruit.

Blackcurrant

My soft fruit trees had grown far too big for the tubs they were in, even though they were deep they weren’t very wide and any sign of wind and the trees were falling over due to the height they have all grown too. So i re-potted all three into these nice larger tub which they can hopefully stay in now depending on how big they grow! So far my gooseberry and raspberry plant seem to be doing the best, both starting to form fruit, however my blackcurrant plant is not far behind… it has started creating lots of blossom, and some of the blossom higher up are even starting to form fruit…
